5 Essentials for an Inviting Basement Bar
Posted on 17 January 2017
If you have been talking about renovating your basement to build a bar for a while then you are probably pretty excited about finally moving forward with your plans. You want the space to be inviting, so folks actually want to hang out down there. After all, there is no point in investing your time and money in this project if guests are going to do everything they can to move the gathering upstairs. They may even make excuse to not come over at all. Below are a few essentials that will make the space more inviting and comfortable.
Water Fountains for Basement Bar
You probably have a lot of ideas running through your mind for the design, and there is very little chance that water fountains for basement bar are part of your vision. Well, maybe they should be. The soothing sound of cascading water will lure you (and your guests) in, and the visual display will ensure no one is too eager to leave.
Comfortable Seating
You may have your eye on some totally retro stools and a contemporary sofa that could double as art, but will anyone want to sit on these things? You don't have to sacrifice comfort for style. There are plenty of options that are stylish and cozy. You may want to consider bean bags instead of traditional furniture, especially some with machine-washable covers.
Fireplace
Even in the spring and early fall the basement can feel significantly cooler than the rest of the house. In the winter it can be an icebox. An electric fireplace will create a warmer space. You can also go with a bio ethanol fireplace, if you want a real flame. It's not a bad idea to do a combination of the two.
Extravagant Lighting
Listing is really important in a basement. Since there is no natural light, you want to provide enough options that are thoughtfully placed to ensure the eyes don't get sore down there. Recessed lighting is great for lower ceilings. Suspend pendants over the bar, and then perhaps add a few lamps or track lighting to the rest of the area.
Wall Mounted Television
Sometimes you will want to have the big game on. Why not mount one behind the bar, so everyone can easily see while sitting on bar stools? You will feel just like you are at your favorite sports bar, only without having to pay the pricey bill before you leave.
